1. Policy Statement
WindowGuru is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors. We believe every workplace injury is preventable. The health and safety of our workers is a core value that takes precedence over all operational concerns.
This policy applies to all WindowGuru operations, including all work sites, vehicles, equipment, and personnel.
2. Management Commitment
WindowGuru management commits to:
- Providing adequate resources for health and safety programs and training
- Complying with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WSIB requirements, and all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation
- Maintaining a documented Health & Safety Management System with defined roles and responsibilities
- Conducting regular workplace inspections and audits
- Investigating all incidents and near-misses and implementing corrective actions
- Promoting a culture where every worker has the right and duty to refuse unsafe work
- Maintaining WSIB coverage in good standing for all employees
- Pursuing ISNetworld certification for contractor management compliance
3. Worker Responsibilities
Every WindowGuru employee is responsible for:
- Working in compliance with safe work procedures and training
- Reporting unsafe conditions, hazards, and incidents immediately
- Using required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Participating in safety training, toolbox talks, and orientations
- Exercising the right to refuse unsafe work per OHSA Section 43
4. Hazard Identification and Control
WindowGuru uses the hierarchy of controls for all hazard management: Elimination, Substitution, Engineering Controls, Administrative Controls, and Personal Protective Equipment. Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) are completed prior to every job, with daily toolbox talks addressing task-specific risks.
5. Training and Competency
All employees receive mandatory training including:
- WHMIS 2015 (initial and annual refresher)
- Working at Heights (MOL-approved, per O. Reg. 213/91)
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- Site-specific orientation (client requirements)
- Equipment-specific operator certification
- Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Emergency response and evacuation
6. Incident Investigation
All incidents, near-misses, and property damage are reported within 1 hour to the HSE Manager. Root cause analysis is conducted within 24 hours. Corrective actions are documented, assigned, tracked to completion, and verified for effectiveness.
7. Audit and Continuous Improvement
- Monthly internal safety inspections at all active sites
- Quarterly review of safety metrics and corrective actions
- Annual third-party safety audit
- Annual management review of HSE program effectiveness
- WSIB compliance review and audit readiness
8. Emergency Preparedness
Site-specific emergency plans are developed for each project. All crews maintain First Aid kits, fire extinguishers, spill kits, and communication devices. Emergency procedures are reviewed at the start of each new project.
9. Safety Performance
WindowGuru tracks and reports the following metrics:
- Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR): Target 0
- Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR): Target 0
- Near-miss reporting rate
- Training completion rate: Target 100%
- WSIB Experience Rating
WindowGuru has maintained ZERO lost-time injuries and ZERO recordable incidents for the past 3 consecutive years (2024, 2025, 2026 YTD).
10. Certifications
- WSIB certified and in good standing
- Working at Heights (WAH) certified per Ontario O. Reg. 213/91
- WHMIS 2015 certified (all technicians)
- $5M Commercial General Liability insurance
- First Aid/CPR-C certified supervisory staff
